If You Wouldn't Drink The Water...
Share
One of the questions we hear most often is:
“How long will my flowers last?”
The simple answer: at least 7 days.
That’s our guarantee — and we don’t offer it lightly.
We’ve built our 7-day freshness promise on years of experience and the extra care we take behind the scenes. From the moment fresh product arrives at our door, we begin a careful prep process that includes hydration, trimming, and conditioning to give every bloom the best possible start. Because of how we handle our flowers, we fully expect them to last a minimum of 7 days.
But here’s the thing: that’s just the baseline.
Many of the flower varieties we work with — including alstroemeria, carnations, mums, and more — can last well beyond 7 days if they’re cared for properly. Some of our clients report their arrangements looking great after 10 days or more!
So what’s the secret?
Care Is Everything
Flowers are living things. Even after being arranged in a bouquet, they continue to drink, breathe, and change. That’s part of their beauty — watching them open and shift as they age.
But without care, even the hardiest flowers will wilt early. That’s why we always share our #1 care rule:
“If you wouldn’t drink the water, neither should your flowers.”
That water is your flowers’ lifeline. And just like you wouldn’t drink from a glass that’s been sitting out for days, your flowers shouldn't either.
The Easiest Way to Keep Flowers Fresh
If your bouquet is in a vase:
-
Every day, set the vase in the sink.
-
Run cool, clean water through it gently until it overflows and runs clear.
-
This simple flush removes bacteria that cloud the water and block the stems from drinking.
Cloudy water = bacteria = short-lived flowers.
If your flowers are arranged in Oasis (floral foam):
-
Place the entire arrangement in the sink.
-
Refill the container slowly, giving the foam time to rehydrate.
-
While Oasis helps slow bacterial growth inside the foam, the surrounding water still needs changing.
And one final tip: don’t reuse floral foam.
It’s designed for one-time use. Once it’s been saturated and dried out, its ability to absorb and hold water significantly decreases. Reused foam means flowers won’t get the hydration they need — and they’ll fade fast.
What to Expect as Flowers Age
Aging doesn’t always mean failing. For example:
-
A rose might open more fully and its scent might deepen.
-
Some blooms may gradually soften, but still look gorgeous in the process.
What you shouldn’t see before Day 7 is limp stems, drooping heads, or early petal loss — and if you’re following our care tips, you often won’t see those signs until long after the week is up.
In Summary
We stand behind our 7-day freshness guarantee, but that’s just the beginning. With a little attention and care, your flowers can easily last longer — and still bring joy with every passing day.
So remember:
-
Clean, fresh water every day
-
Keep stems trimmed if needed
-
And always follow our motto: If you wouldn’t drink the water, neither should your flowers.
Every bouquet we make is handcrafted with care. By following these simple steps, you help extend that care long after it’s left our shop.
